A Rainbow of Prayer

Thank you Lord:
For red apples and for cherries,
For bright red holly berries,
For the robin in the tree,
For Your blood - You shed for me.

For the orange sun - setting in the sky,
For the autumn leaves - as they fall from branches high.

For the yellow dandelion and dainty buttercup,
For the pleasure of the children - gathering them up,
For the cornfields and the crocus - so beautiful to see,
For wild life and for insects and busy bumblebee.

For the nourishing green vegetables - so good for us to eat,
For the variety of grasses that grow beneath our feet,
For fields, like a patchwork quilt - across the countryside,
For trees and sturdy bushes, where birds and squirrels hide.

For the stately bluebells - heralding the Spring,
For the promise of new life and all the hope they bring,
Thank you for the bright blue sky,
Where “cotton wool” clouds go scudding by,
For the mighty oceans and creatures living there,
The home that tiny crabs and massive blue whales share.

For the indigo mountains - carpeted with heather,
For their majestic beauty and shelter from the weather,
For velvety purple grapes - growing on the vine,
For the skills of men - that turn them into wine.

For the colours of the sunset and the violet of the dawn,
For the re-assuring calm - following the storm.

Lord, thank you for Your rainbow - Your banner in the sky,
Thank you for Your promise that Your love will never die.
