In June the retired members of St. Barnabas congregation
invited guests to an afternoon tea to celebrate the Queens
Golden Jubilee. Over 30 people turned up to enjoy an appetising
buffet tea prepared and served by St. Barnabas Hospitality
Group.
After tea Mr. Phillip Clark, the former
head teacher from St. Marks Primary School Woodley, gave
a stimulating talk to the guests. The talk was followed by a quiz
about the 1950s devised and run by Daryl and Clem Beaumont,
the prize-winners were Dr. Chris Gordons team. Connie Wheatley
then led a couple of lively Bingo games and a free raffle was
held - there were many prize winners! The party came to an end
after an enjoyable and entertaining afternoon.
There will be another social afternoon on Friday
11th October 2002.
Admission is free and there will be an opportunity
to play board games, Bingo, listen to music, chat with friends
and enjoy FREE tea and biscuits. More details about this are on
