Diamond Jubilee - 2003

JUBILEE PARTY - 14th June

More than 60 members of the congregation joined together to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee on Saturday evening of the 14th June.

The children were proud to wear a badge saying they were “Jubilee Helpers” and were ready and eager to help when asked. There was a quiz- stand up/sit down Bingo, musical bumps (for the children), Pat and Harry played some songs for us to join in with and after the buffet there was dancing - from the Square Tango to line dancing and the Birdie Dance to Rock and Roll.

Half way through we enjoyed a buffet to which everyone had contributed - all had brought their own drinks alcoholic or otherwise and there were a few bottles to be taken to the bottle bank on Sunday morning!

The question on most people’s lips was “When are we going to do this again” - well hopefully we won’t have to wait for the Centenary Celebrations - watch this space for details of a future event.

Throughout 2003 we will hold several events to celebrate the work that has gone on in St. Barnabas' over the past 60 years, for example Brownies, Guides and the Rose Queen.

Perhaps you belonged to St. Barnabas' at one time - Do you have old photos of events that happened here? Do you know people who have moved away who we could contact to invite to special events that will be held- ex- Brownies, Guides, Boys Brigade, Rose Queens etc. If you do please contact Rev. Kit Windle or Mr. Clement Beaumont or Mrs Daryl Beaumont
