This goes to members of the congregation who receive Communion
at home because they are unable to attend church services through
illness or disability. Although they are unable to get to the
church services they are still a part of our fellowship and are
asked to through this letter to pray for this church and for the
world.
MAY PRAYER LETTER
Dear Prayer Partner,
How wonderful it is to see the spring flowers after what seems
to have been a long dark winter. I can't understand why so many
people have no faith in God. It isn't until you meet with Him
and have a personal encounter with Him that you can fully appreciate
the wonderful things that He has created. The times when you look
at creation and just stand in awe and praise Him for His handy
work, you feel an emotion you can't put into words. The colour
of the setting sun, the seeds that you sowed last year have put
on their spring glory, the first cry of a new baby, the song of
the Blackbird sitting on your chimney pot, I could go on about
the beauty of all God has created. We just want to worship and
praise their creator.
They are indeed encounters with God, lost in
wonder, love and praise. As believers we cannot understand why
it is that people can't see. In Romans 1:20-22, Paul writes that
God's invisible qualities....have been clearly seen.... so that
man is without excuse. The Bible tells us that Satan has blinded
the eyes of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the truth. This
time of Spring is a constant reminder of God's faithfulness.
His faithfulness reaches the skies, says the
Psalmist (Ps 36:2). We need to remember this as we listen to the
bad news from around the world, and not despair. As the storm
clouds gather and the news is bleak, we as Christians put our
trust in our faithful God and Father. He will always be there
for us if we remain faithful to Him (2Thes 3:3). God knows that
after the dark days of uncertaintly comes the dawning of new hope.
SUGGESTIONS FOR PRAYER
-
Pray for evangelists in Vietnam. Pray for justice
in that country, and protection for the Christians there.
-
After the appointment of a Gay clergyman to
high office in St. Alban's Catherdral, pray that the appointment
will be changed and that those responsible will desire to follow
God's teaching and prevent more damage being done to the body
of Christ. Pray too for repentance.
-
A new Alpha course will be starting soon, do
pray that the Lord will prompt those who He is calling to join
this new course. Pray that the Holy spirit will be working in
people's lives and that they will respond to God's call.
-
Pray for our local council, that God will give
them wisdom. Many of our councillors are Christians, pray that
God will guide them in their deligerations, to show mercy and
compassion for those in need, and in all things seek the will
of God.
-
Pray for the lonely, the homeless, and those
who have lost their faith. Perhaps you know someone who you
feel is in need of prayer, or would like you to pray for them,
or ask the Lord to put a name in your mind, even though you
do not know them, God does.
-
Pray that the refugee problem will be solved,
that those involved will seek wisdom in knowing who is a true
refugee, and who is bogus and here under false pretences. The
Lord says in His Word that a refugee is someone who is in danger
in his own land and seeks refuge in another (Joshua 20:2) Remember
that our Lord was a refugee in Egypt. Pray that justice and
mercy will be done.
-
Praise the Lord for all He has done for us,
may we always love Him and serve Him, He is our only saviour,
the only one who is able to save, He took our sins away by dying
in our place, and opened the gates of glory so that we could
go in and live with Him for ever. What a Saviour! Just praise
Him today for His love, Halleleujah! Amen
