The role of parents:

The Pre-School recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their young children. Our pre-school aims to support parents. Parents are welcome:

  • To work in the group with the children
  • To assist in any fundraising
  • To assist on any outing which we regularly arrange

Our Curriculum can be viewed on the Curriculum page, and our policy statements and latest OFSTED reports are available if you contact the Pre-school supervisor Mrs. Mary Owen.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your staffing levels? and what qualifications do they have?
We are proud of the high ratio of adults to children in our group. This ensures individual attention to the needs and development of each child.

The regular staff in the group are:
Mrs. Mary Owen Supervisor PLA Trained/First Aid
Mrs. Margaret Earl Assistant Supervisor PLA Trained/First Aid
Mrs. Julie McConnell Assistant Supervisor PLA Trained/First Aid
Mrs. Audrey Cooper NNEB/First Aid
Mrs. Lilian Taylor PLA Trained/First Aid
Mrs. Linda Conroy PLA Trained/First Aid
Mrs. Margaret Bonsall

How much does it cost?
Fees are £3.75 per session, payable per half term in advance, within the first two weeks of term. Fees continue to be payable if a child is absent. Each child's attendance at the group is conditional upon continued payment of any necessary fees and/or presentation of Nursery Grant.

What should my child wear?
In order to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials, including messy ones, it is best to send children dressed in clothes which are easily washable and not too new. Simple clothing which they can handle themselves will enable them to go to the toilet when they want to, and put on and take off their outdoor clothes without being too dependent on other people's help.

What about special needs children?
The number of adults present in the pre-school enables us to provide individual attention for each child. We are experienced with working in close liaison with professionals across a range of special needs. If you would like to discuss the group's ability to meet your own child's special needs, please talk to the supervisor. Our full special needs policy is available.

We hope that your child's time in pre-school will be a very happy and productive one . If you have any further queries or if we can be of any help, please contact the supervisor Mrs. Mary Owen.......Tel: 0161 430 4908.
